BeCause helps organisations collect, coordinate, and communicate their sustainability data, connecting certification entities, travel providers and distributors. Hilton has ramped up its carbon labelling with new low impact menus at 30 hotels across the UK. Developed in partnership with sustainability experts Kilmato, the menus aim to show guests the environmental impact of their food choices with a simple labelling system.

The Independent Hotel Show, which takes place this month, has released more details of this year’s event including the addition of an ESG Hub. The free-to-attend show will feature several panels on its Innovation Stage, about the challenges the hotel industry faces when it comes to sustainability, and an ESG Hub curated by sustainability consultant Sarah Duncan, founder of Sleeping Lion.

Sustonica – a sustainability certification programme for short-term rentals – has partnered with online travel agent Booking.com. The Barcelona-based company claims to be the first dedicated sustainability programme for short-term rentals globally, with its certification badge based on ten of the 17 UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The announcement also marks Hilton’s Travel with Purpose Week, which is dedicated to supporting its Travel with Purpose ESG strategy and the Hilton Global Foundation, while creating a positive impact for more than 450,000 team members around the world.

The Alliance will work with Silk Hospitality to address key challenges affecting the planet and its people, local destinations and communities. It aims to use the collective power of the industry to deliver Net Positive Hospitality.

The Marriott Apprenticeship Programme offers young women from the Masai community the opportunity to gain comprehensive training in all lodge departments, preparing them for careers in the hospitality industry.

Delphina Hotels & Resorts has completed the installation of photovoltaic systems at two of its properties. The system supplies 752.1 kWp (kilowatt peak) of power, which Delphina says caters for “internal energy consumption and electric car charging”.
