US: Langham Huntington Pasadena Hotel in Los Angeles has retained its EarthCheck Platinum status after being certified by the group for thirteen consecutive years.
The luxury hotel in Pasadena — a short drive from Downtown LA – is on the path to be certified ‘Master’ status on its current trajectory as part of its long term commitment to the EarthCheck certification process. Businesses can achieve master status after 15 years or more of EarthCheck certification.
The LA hotel follows the group’s sustainability path, the CONNECT Programme, which Langham Hospitality Group launched in 2008. The programme provides a framework across four pillars; Governance, Environment, Community and Colleagues.
EarthCheck CEO and founder Stewart Moore said: “The management team have worked hard to help to protect the local area. It is important that the environmental values and cultural assets that attract visitors to destinations such as The Langham are protected and responsibly managed.”
Certification, consulting and advisory group EarthCheck has GSTC-recognised status since 2017 and recently launched a freight, food and laundry carbon calculators to help tourism operators understand and manage their emissions.
Last year Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa in the Cotswolds became the first countryside luxury hotel in the UK to achieve EarthCheck’s Silver certification and Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich has become the first Kempinski hotel in the world to get a gold certificate with the EarthCheck programme.
