TUI introduces sensory rooms to support neurodivergent guests

EUROPE: TUI will offer its first hotel sensory rooms this spring, which are designed to support neurodivergent guests and their families.

The first property to offer the rooms will be the TUI BLUE Nausicaa Beach in Larnaca, Cyprus opening mid April, followed by the TUI BLUE Aura, Ibiza which will open May 1.

Sensory rooms are specially designed spaces which aim to provide a calming, low-stimulation environment for people who may feel overwhelmed by busy or unfamiliar surroundings.

The rooms will feature elements such as soft lighting, interactive sensory equipment or quiet zones to encourage relaxation.

The two hotels will also offer enhanced neurodiversity awareness training for all frontline staff at the properties. The Kid’s club rooms have also been considered with ‘Now and Next’ boards to allow children to understand the flow of a session.

Louise Bates, director brands & product TUI Hotels & Resort, said: “Overstimulating environments can be challenging, so we are taking steps to make our hotels more inclusive. These new sensory rooms will provide a calm and comfortable space, helping families enjoy a truly relaxing holiday.

This is just the beginning as we work towards becoming the most neuro-friendly travel company possible.”

The new sensory rooms will be open for summer 2025 and will be able for guests to use throughout their stay.
