UK: The Lamington Group, which owns the sustainable room2 aparthotels, has achieved B Corp status.
The group, which has room2 properties in Chiswick, Hammersmith, Southampton and most recently Belfast, has committed to only build and operate whole life net zero standards since it launched its roadmap in 2021.
Its latest property, the fully electric room2 Belfast opened last month and is currently working towards a WELL Building certificate.
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK (which certifies the B Corp standard), said: “We are delighted to welcome Lamington Group to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a power for good. The Lamington Group has earned B Corp status for its sustainability initiatives and achievements in several areas:
- Its Net Zero Roadmap which encourages other industry leaders to take collective action;
- The launch of room2 Belfast, which has a gold rating in the Green Tourism Award, and Platinum in the Greengage ECOsmart Accreditation;
- The opening of room2 Chiswick in 2021, a whole life net zero offering;
- An internal campaign for team members consisting of monthly events and regular communications such as climate debates, zero waste workshops.
