US: SH Hotels & Resorts, the sustainable hotel group which is known for its 1 Hotel brand, has released details of a new property in Seattle next year.
The group will take over Seattle’s Pan Pacific Hotel, which will be transformed into 1 Hotel Seattle in 2025.
Located in the South Lake Union neighbourhood, the hotel is near downtown with many of the rooms overlooking Seattle’s famed Space Needle.
The property will continue to welcome guests throughout the renovation, which will see the hotel transform into a “nature-inspired sanctuary”.
Drawing inspiration from its natural surroundings, the 153-room 1 Hotel Seattle will see guests enter the lobby complete with living wall and a sculptural stairway fashioned from reclaimed timber and stacked stone.
The restaurant will offer a menu inspired by the Pacific Northwest, and there will also be a fitness centre.
All rooms and suites will undergo a complete refurbishment designed to “reflect the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship”, featuring reclaimed wood finishes, stone-clad millwork, custom live-edge furniture, and moss art pieces.
1 Hotels launched in 2015 with the opening of 1 Hotels & Homes South Beach. It has grown in key markets such as New York City’s Central Park and Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville, Toronto (Canada), and Sanya (China) and last year marked the opening of two flagship properties—Hawaii’s 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay (Kauai) and 1 Hotel Mayfair (London).
As well as the Seattle hotel upcoming properties due to open in 2025 include 1 Hotel & Homes Melbourne and 1 Hotel Copenhagen.
In 2026 the brand is cited to open 1 Hotel Austin, which will be the tallest tower in Texas and “a testament to urban sustainability,” and 1 Hotel & Homes Elounda Hills, Crete.
Further ahead in 2027 the brand plans to open in Paris, San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Cabo (Mexico) and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
The brand also launched its sustainable meetings offering last year, which can divert 90 per cent of waste from each event. Certified Sustainable Gatherings at 1 Hotels will offer events, meetings, weddings or private celebrations with a commitment to sustainability.
