DUBAI: The First Group has partnered with global technology firm e& to install EV charging stations at selected properties.

The agreement will see e&’s recently launched Charge&Go solution installed at six of The First Group’s properties – The First Collection at Jumeirah Village Circle, The First Collection Business Bay, Tryp by Wyndham Dubai, Wyndham Dubai Marina, Citadines Metro Central Dubai, and Grand Heights.

The group said that the charging stations would offer “cutting-edge rapid charging technology”, as well as universal compatibility allowing customers to charge a wide range of electric vehicle makes and models.

Dubai recently announced a push to increase the number of public EV charging stations across the emirate, with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) set to install more than 680 additional charging points by 2025, taking the total number available to 1,000.

The emirate is aiming for there to be more than 42,000 electric cars on its roads by 2030, up from around 11,000 currently.

Karim Abdelhamid, VP hotel operations, The First Group, said: “Offering EV charging stations makes our hotels a hassle-free option for electric vehicle owners and allows our guests and partners to support a cleaner and greener future with us.”

Hotel groups are increasingly turning to EV charging solutions as the number of electric vehicles grows – in September Hilton announced plans to install 20,000 Tesla charging points at more than 2,000 hotels across the US, Canada and Mexico (see below) and in the UK , The Exclusive Collection, which is B Corp, has partnered with RAW Charging to install EV chargers at five of its venues so far, including Pennyhill Park and Lainston House.
