Mastercard and Sabre join Travalyst coalition

UK: Mastercard and Sabre have joined Travalyst, the not-for-profit organisation, founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex.

The Travalyst coalition, which aims to bring sustainability information to the mainstream to help people make better travel choices, includes Amadeus,, Expedia Group, Google, Skyscanner, Travelport, Group, Tripadvisor and Visa.

Mastercard is partnering with Travalyst to “collaborate on best practices around sustainability data and insights for travellers to improve our own delivery of this information”.

Sabre will be able to offer business travel agents and companies booking employee travel through its technology relevant emissions data, through Travalyst’s Travel Impact Model (TIM).

Travalyst has scaled its Travel Impact Model (TIM) through its coalition, which means that anyone booking travel is now able to see, for example, consistent flight emissions estimates across a number of platforms including,, Google Flights, Sabre, Skyscanner, Travelport and (the corporate travel arm of Group). 

All of Travalyst’s relevant partners are in the process of implementing the TIM.

Brad West, head of partnerships, Travalyst said, “The addition of Mastercard and Sabre aligns with our partnerships strategy and adds further scale to our mission. 

“Bringing a payments technology leader on board, as well as enhancing our presence among key technology providers to the travel industry, means we are strategically poised to deliver on our mission to mainstream sustainability information within the travel industry to help drive change.”

Travalyst recently launched an initiative to review sustainability certification bodies, which are displayed against available accommodation on its partner platforms.

The aim of the initiative is for Travalyst to be able to offer consistency to travellers trying to choose sustainable accommodation. Read more below.
