This week Lamington Group also announced the next step for its Manchester room2 after sharing a picture of the site on LinkedIn.
According to the website the new property will have 33 floors and 180 keys, becoming the tallest “hometel” in the portfolio.
room2 launched in December 2021 with the opening of the net zero “hometel” room2 Chiswick.
The idea from brothers and owners, Robert and Stuart Godwin, was to create a home from home, having spent years on the road travelling to sports events as British Olympic Development Sailing team members, they never quite felt any of the properties they stayed in hit the mark.
And so the “hometel” was born – an aparthotel concept, which offers guests kitchenettes in their apartments, as well as the option to take breakfast in the cafe, work and go to the on-site gym.
room2 already has properties in London – Hammersmith and Chiswick, as well as Southampton and Belfast with three certified as carbon neutral.
The Manchester property will offer a mix of studios as well as one and two bed apartments.
The building is in central Manchester on Jordan Street in Castlefield and is cited to open in 2027.
Room2 ‘hometels’ in Liverpool and York are due to open in 2026.
