UK: IONITY a European EV charging network has announced a new partnership with Valary Hotels, owners of franchises across the UK, including properties by Hilton, Marriott and IHG.

The partnership will include the construction of EV charging hubs (with up to 24 EV chargers per hub) at both Hilton Leicester (currently undergoing a £4m refurbishment) Holiday Inn South Normanton (pictured above) and Delta by Marriott, Warwick.

All hotels are on motorways (M1 and M40) and each site will have up to 24 high-power chargers providing 350kW of 100 per cent renewable energy for both hotel guests and members of the public.

The new hubs will be IONITY’s largest to date – we reported earlier this year IONITY will install and operate 380 charging points at all 33 Village Hotels across the UK.

As part of the collaboration, Valary Hotels will build coffee shops and drive-throughs along with the inclusion of other amenities and will be expecting an average of 200 to 400 vehicles charging per day at each site. The sites, are all expected to be open in Spring next year.

IONITY’s country manager of UK and Ireland, Andreas Atkins commented: “We are planning for these sites to be home to some of our biggest charging hubs in the UK to date as we continue to help EV motorists access long-distance travel without the concerns of charger queuing.”

Valary Hotels director, Rajiv Nathwani said: “We are delighted to be working with IONITY to install 350kW ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hubs across our hotels.

“I’ve personally been an EV driver since 2015 and know all too well of the need for more EV chargers across the UK to make EV driving a more viable form of transport, and as such, it was an easy decision to decide to partner with them. ”

Valary Hotels was founded in 2017 and is an owner and operator of franchised hotels across the Midlands in the UK. The group’s brands include Hilton, Marriott and Holiday Inn.
