US: IHG has opened its fourth voco hotel in New York with voco Fiorello–LaGuardia East, close to LaGuardia Airport in Flushing.
As part of its sustainable initiatives the 114-room hotel will offer electric vehicle charging stations for drive-in guests and aerated shower heads, pillow- and duvet-fillings made from 100 per cent recycled materials as well as refillable, eco-friendly bath amenities.
The New York hotel has a bar, rooftop restaurant, as well as The Buffet, an Asian seafood spot.
Ginger Taggart, VP of voco hotels said: “The voco hotels brand has seen rapid expansion and growth in the conversion space over the last year, and the opening of voco Fiorello – LaGuardia East heralds another milestone for the brand as we track to double our portfolio around the world within the next five years.”
The brand is known for its sustainability efforts and recently teamed up with Zeal in the UK to launch the voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, IHG’s first lifecycle net zero carbon offering. Signed under a franchise agreement and managed by Valor Hospitality, the UK hotel is scheduled to open in 2024.
As of June this year the brand had 52 hotels open with 49 in the pipeline.
