EUROPE: Serviced apartment company Frasers Hospitality has achieved BREEAM In-Use (BIU) certifications across its owned portfolio in Europe.

The eight properties are located in Germany, Spain and the UK.

The group’s UK portfolio has also been accredited by Green Tourism for its approach and practices towards sustainability and is fully powered by renewable energy.

Frasers Hospitality’s net-zero roadmap was laid out in 2020 and refreshed in 2023 to “prioritise rapid integration of sustainability into business operations ahead of 2050.”

Eu Chin Fen, chief executive officer of Frasers Hospitality said: “Sustainability is core to Frasers Hospitality and is integral to our purpose and mission. They are a validation of our capabilities to strengthen the resilience of our portfolio and future-proof our business.”

“The certifications also serve as an important milestone as we accelerate our progress towards attaining our green building certification goal by 2030, in line with the Group’s ESG goals.”

As well as achieving BREEAM-in-USE, the group’s sustainability framework aims for all EMEA properties to meet or exceed expectations in areas including employee development & wellbeing, equality & inclusion, accessibility, energy management and chemical use.

Other key ESG initiatives across properties globally include:

  • Sustainable eco-friendly linen;
  • Elimination of single-use plastics in rooms and food and beverage outlets;
  • Engagement and partnership of responsible suppliers;
  • Implementation of food waste management and recycling programme;

Two remaining owned properties in the European portfolio, Capri by Fraser, Berlin, and Capri by Fraser, Frankfurt, are in the process of obtaining the BIU certifications this year.
