PERU: Vignette Collection, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has opened its first property in South America, and the first hotel in Lima to be free of single-use plastic.
Operated by Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, SOUMA Hotel Lima in Peru is located in the capital’s Miraflores neighborhood overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Inspired by Peru’s Pacaya Samiria Nature Reserve, the hotel’s 214 guest rooms have been designed with materials such as light wood, cotton and linen and have floor to ceiling windows.
The hotel offers the collections’ A Means For Good initiative to represent a commitment to responsibility, community engagement and local culture.
SOUMA Hotel Lima was the first hotel in Lima to be free of single-use plastic and through its partnerships with waste processing companies, the hotel tracks and enhances its environmental impact through tailored programmes that reduce waste and transform it into resources, support responsible fishing practices and promote coastal health.
Leanne Harwood, SVP and managing director of luxury & lifestyle Americas, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are excited to lay the foundation for the growth of Vignette Collection in South America with the brand’s first property here. SOUMA Hotel Lima is filled with individuality and character and brings a new dimension of discovery to Vignette Collection, which has experienced strong momentum globally in its first three years.”
Vignette Collection has surpassed the halfway point in its initial aim to reach 100 open and pipeline hotels in 10 years (figures from September 2024). The Lima hotel joins a growing portfolio including those in key destinations such as Bangkok, Lisbon, Shanghai, Budapest and Dubai.
