WORLDWIDE: Mandarin Oriental has achieved GSTC-Committed status after adopting the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Industry Criteria v3.0.
Achieving GSTC-Committed status means the group has committed to implementing the GSTC Criteria across its entire organisation including its policy, plan and operations, corporate offices and all managed branded properties worldwide.
The GSTC-Committed status also means it will actively pursue GSTC Certification this year.
Mandarin Oriental Group operates 38 hotels, eleven residences and 23 Exclusive Homes in 25 countries and territories. Eleven Mandarin Oriental hotels were accredited with GSTC Certification in 2023.
In October Mandarin Oriental’s Hyde Park hotel became the group’s third property to be Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)-recognised. At the time the London hotel said that the recognition acknowledges “its commitments and dedication towards sustainability”.
In January this year the hotel partnered with Naked Energy to install solar heat technology on its rooftop. The iconic property is the first British hotel to use Naked Energy’s Virtu technology and the installation will comprise 120 of the company’s solar ‘collectors’ across the roof.
The Group utilises the GSTC-Recognised Greenview Portal as its sustainability management system.
