UK: A new Travelodge in Chiswick, which will open in 2025, will set the sustainability standard for more of the brand’s new-build properties across the capital.
Travelodge, one of London’s largest hotel chains, is also planning on a further 100 hotel sites across the capital, which will more than double its portfolio in the city.
The new-build hotel in West London is the group’s 600th hotel and fourth hotel currently under construction in the capital.
The other three in development in London are: a 73-room hotel in Bermondsey, a 72-room hotel in Beckenham and the 95-room Kia Oval Cricket Ground.
The 113-room London Chiswick Travelodge is being developed to the group’s new, premium design specification and will be built to BREEAM “Excellent” standards and with an EPC rating of “A”.
Other sustainable initiatives for the hotel include low energy lighting, motion sensing controls to avoid heating and lights being on when guests are not in the room, and aerated showers and taps to save on water.
The carpets in the rooms will also be made from recycled fishing nets and old plastic bottles, (in support of a clean ocean initiative). According to Travelodge, every ten of these bottles which are recycled rather than being sent to landfill saves enough energy to power a laptop for 25 hours.
Travelodge will continue to expand its footprint across West London and is actively looking for a further 15 hotel sites in locations such as Hammersmith, White City, Southall, Staines and Uxbridge.
In July last year Travelodge launched its “inclusive, caring and conscious” sustainability strategy.
