UK: The Responsible Tourism Awards, which are run by International Centres for Responsible Tourism in India, Latin America, Africa and Asia Pacific are still open for entry in three categories.

Entry to three regional awards are still open and there is no charge for submissions to encourage entries from small as well as larger organisations.

The International Centre for Responsible Tourism India, Foundation Awards are open until June 30th as is the category  The International Centre for Responsible Tourism South East Asia Awards.

The Rest of the World Awards are open for projects worldwide and can be submitted by August 31st.

Judges are looking for winners in six areas; making travel inclusive, championing cultural diversity, nature positive, climate change, creating shared value and increasing local sourcing and upskilling local communities.

Gold winners in all categories in the regional awards go on to be considered for the global award, which will be announced in London in November this year.

Harold Goodwin, founder of the Responsible Tourism Partnership, which has run the awards since 2004 said: “We are looking for initiatives which can provide inspiration for other destinations and organisations to learn from; looking for places and people who are developing solutions and tracking the difference they are making.”

Tess Longfield, head of sustainability communications, Sabre, and judge, said the awards “shine a light on best practice from around the world. The most exciting ideas can come from anywhere; the smallest tourism business, through to the largest corporation.”

Other industry awards include the launch of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (The Alliance) partnering with the World Travel Awards for the inaugural World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards (WSTHA), in Belize this September.
