AUSTRALIA: Profit-for-purpose hotel and restaurant, Song Hotel and Song Kitchen, has teamed up with celebrated Bundjalung woman, chef and author, Mindy Woods for the launch of its inaugural Supper Series: Purposeful Plates.
Woods recently received the 2025 Champions of Change award by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, and is a leading advocate for native Australian cuisine.
Through her work, she brings Indigenous ingredients and centuries of First Nations food knowledge into the spotlight.
The menu for Song’s inaugural supper series celebrates native ingredients and First Nations flavours alongside contemporary techniques with the aim to leave diners with “a sense of wonder, curiosity, and respect for Indigenous food culture, seeing it as both modern and deeply rooted in tradition.”
In line with Song Hotel and Song Kitchen’s profit-for-purpose models, 100 per cent of profits from both the event and the collaborative menu will be directed to YWCA Australia who provide housing, services and leadership pathways for women and gender diverse people.
The partnership will see Woods co-host the first Supper Series event on October 1st, 2025, kicking off a special two-week menu.
Woods said: “I was drawn to Song Hotel and Song Kitchen for this partnership as their values align so closely with mine. At the very heart, we all share a strong focus on culture, sustainability, and community.
“These aren’t just hospitality spaces, these venues exist to nurture meaningful connections, celebrate diverse stories, and amplify voices that are often overlooked.”
Jon Ackary, general manager of Song Hotel said: “This collaboration allows us to showcase not only incredible food, but also the values of culture, sustainability, and community that underpin everything we do.
“Purposeful Plates is about creating memorable dining experiences that leave a lasting impact, and having Mindy at the helm sets the perfect tone for what this series is all about.”
