EUROPE: Sustainable Hotel News is pleased to partner with Sarah Habsburg, sustainability consultant, to offer a short course on marketing sustainability initiatives for the SME hotel market.
Aimed specifically at hotel owners and employees in the SME market, the 90 minute course offers short, concise videos packed with invaluable practical advice on how independent hotels can evaluate and promote their sustainability actions within the remit of the Green Claims Directive.
Readers of Sustainable Hotel News booking onto the €197 course will also benefit from the partnership with an additional 30 minute one-on-one call with Habsburg, once the course has been completed.
During the call Habsburg will help hotels analyse a chosen sustainability initiative and answer any questions they might have from taking part in the course.
The aim of the short course is to prepare SMEs to commit to the right sustainability action for them, embed sustainability throughout operations, prepare for upcoming regulation requirements, confidently avoid greenwashing and more.
The course content also includes 35 customisable templates for the property to use such as press release templates, buffet labels, bathroom water conservation messaging and staff sustainability education templates.
The Green Claims Directive applies to all companies operating in the EU, and those outside the EU which are targeting EU consumers. Those with fewer than 10 employees and less than €2 million turnover will be exempt from the requirements.
The directive is in the process of being adopted this year and is likely to be enforced from early 2027.
Habsburg said: “We need to break this “action stagnation” for SMEs and get them to see the benefit of starting this process now, even though it is not yet compulsory for them to do so.
“The benefits of owner/managers taking this particular training are that it will help them to build the personalised solutions that I believe are missing from other courses on the subject. It also generates confidence in exactly how to embed sustainability through operations and how to market it confidently and in an authentic way,” Habsburg adds.
