UK: Beyond Green, the global portfolio of sustainable hotels, resorts, and lodges, has completed its second annual clean-up of the capital’s waterways, this time tackling rubbish in the River Thames.

The group brought together team members, hoteliers, and industry friends for the Thames clean-up in Fulham’s Bishop’s Park removing 20 bags of rubbish from the river foreshore.

The initiative, held with Thames21, London’s waterways charity, was timed to mark World Rivers Day 2025 and to shine a light on the urgent challenges facing the capital’s rivers.

Volunteers donned protective equipment, waded onto the foreshore, and spent several hours removing litter, guided by Thames21 experts.

Participants cleared harmful waste from the river and gained insight into the threats to London’s waterways and the collective action needed to protect them.

Anna Moore, regional director of Northern Europe for Beyond Green said: “Our mission is global, but our impact starts locally. At Beyond Green, we’re committed to turning sustainable values into meaningful action.

“Events like this clean-up show how much can be achieved when our community comes together with purpose to protect the places we all depend on.”

Beyond Green aims to put responsibility and purpose at the heart of its brand, while creating opportunities for people to take meaningful action closer to home.

Last year Felicity Cousins, editor Sustainable Hotel News, joined the efforts in the canals in Hackney Wick, East London.
