RIU to choose suppliers based on ESG scores

SPAIN: RIU Hotels & Resorts has signed a global agreement with Achilles, an expert in supply chain risk management specialising in ESG criteria.

The agreement reflects the hotel group’s commitment to its Proudly Committed sustainability strategy which it updated earlier this year.

RIU’s entire supply chain will be involved as Achilles looks at their commitment to ESG carrying out assessments including on-site audits.

Achilles will give a score for each supplier to assess its level of compliance and commitment to ESG sustainability-related aspects.

RIU has adopted the Achilles supplier rating system to ensure a consistent level throughout its supply chain with the idea that those suppliers who go through the audit will join an extensive international community of qualified suppliers that meet ESG criteria.

The implementation of the Achilles rating system is in line with the hotel group’s Proudly Committed Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and represents a step forward in RIU’s pledge to work exclusively with suppliers that have been proven to follow responsible practices.

RIU Hotels & Resorts has 97 hotels in 21 countries, with a total of 35,808 employees that welcomed 6.4 million customers in 2023.

Earlier this month we reported how RIU’s hotels in Mauritius were gaining 2,000 solar panels
