WORLDWIDE: Just a Drop and IHG Hotels & Resorts have come together support safe water projects in Kenya and Cambodia, in a pilot at five voco hotels around the world.
The ‘Water for All’ initiative, allows guests to donate money to fund safe water and sanitation projects and the pilot, which began on March 8th, will be in place across the globe at voco Oxford Thames, UK; voco Reading, UK; voco Johannesburg Rosebank, South Africa; voco Orchard Singapore; and voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley, Australia.
The partnership with Just a Drop is in alignment with voco hotels’ provision of free filtered water in hotel guestrooms.
At some of the participating voco hotels, guests will be invited to make an optional donation for filtered water during food service, while other voco hotels will donate a portion of the proceeds made from filtered water sales, either during food service or at the hotel front desk.
Just a Drop will use voco hotels’ donations to fund two projects, providing safe water and sanitation to communities in Kenya and Cambodia.
Julie Cheesman, head of voco at IHG Hotels & Resorts said: “It is critical we continue to innovate and collaborate with partners in this space, to evolve our offering on the best guest experiences. That’s why we’re delighted to be working with Just a Drop on this exciting partnership, and I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact it has on communities in Kenya and Cambodia.”
Just a Drop’s founder and chair, Fiona Jeffery OBE, said: “The Just a Drop team is absolutely thrilled to be working with IHG Hotels & Resorts and voco hotels on this initiative which has so much potential for good and will be truly transformational in its provision of safe water to local communities. This partnership presents an opportunity for both organisations, and their teams, to work together to create real positive impact from ‘Water for All’.
