We are just back from the Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam where I hosted a panel on Sustainability Data: Who Cares Wins. It was a great discussion. You can read the summary below and hear what the experts had to say about strategy, operations and the challenges hotels face when collecting, reporting and improving on their sustainability data. There can't be any losers – everyone needs to win.
Today also saw the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) appointing SilverDoor’s Pauline Houston as the first chairperson of its newly formed WINiT EMEA Chapter. Houston will focus on building a community in EMEA for women in the business travel industry, driving initiatives that foster sustainability, inclusion and gender equity, to help all women within the industry thrive in their careers.
Iberostar has released its latest impact report Wave of Change – the Mallorcan group is a world leader in sustainability and achieved a global reduction in its Scope 1 and 2 emissions of 12 per cent last year compared to 2019. In the EMEA region the reduction was as high as 32 per cent.
We also share how IHG is installing more EV chargers in its properties across the US and Canada to help guests arriving in electric vehicles and in other news the hotel group has partnered with Just a Drop to support safe water projects in Cambodia and Kenya.
Until next time,
