According to a new survey by hotel loyalty programme tech providers iSeatz, guests are looking to be rewarded for being sustainable. It's a trend on the up so take a read of the story below. Sustainable Hotel News has launched its Sustainable Hotel Exchange webinar series, with the first live event taking place next week.
The Sustainable Hotel Exchange in partnership with Good&Co. will begin with the Data Matters webinar at 12 noon on Wednesday May 22nd.
The panel will be moderated by Felicity Cousins editor of Sustainable Hotel News and she will be joined by experts Alina Arnell chief sustainability officer, BeCause, Peter Marshall, head of compliance, PPHE and Jo Geneen, co-founder Good&Co.

iSeatz, a provider of travel loyalty technology, has seen a notable rise in sustainability-based loyalty programme rewards in the hospitality sector.
The tech firm, which has clients including American Express, IHG Hotels & Resorts, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, released the findings in its 5th annual State of Loyalty: Hospitality Rewards Report.
The report offers an overview of hotel rewards programmes and what approaches the schemes take for members to redeem points.
According to the report this year guests will have more options on how they can spend their redeemed points and there was a notable uptick in sustainability-related rewards.

Choice Hotels International has published its 2023 ESG Report, with a commitment to set targets for reducing its carbon footprint through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Choice is one of the world’s largest hotel groups, with around 630,000 rooms across 7,500 franchised properties.
It has engaged a third-party consulting firm to help guide the SBTi validation process, which will include calculating its full Scope 1, 2 and 3 inventory and determining appropriate decarbonization pathways.

Travalyst’s Independent Advisory Group (IAG), which oversees the work delivered by the coalition, has made some key appointments including a new chair and vice chair.
Following the departure of Diana Walker, who has taken a role as senior advisor climate in the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate within the Biden Administration, the group will now be chaired by Dr Anna Spenceley, who has been part of the IAG since Travalyst’s inception.

Millennium Hotels & Resorts Middle East & Africa has joined the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (the Alliance).
As an affiliate member it will join nearly 50 global members, collectively addressing challenges affecting the planet, communities, and the hospitality industry.
Through its sustainability programme, the Millennium’s Green Path Brand Playbook, the brand has set ambitious targets, including a 27 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.

Hyatt’s RiseHY initiative has seen more than 5,700 opportunity youth join the group since 2018, including 926 from the EAME region.
Opportunity youth are defined as young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who have been disconnected from the economy by lack of education and employment.
RiseHY was launched in October 2018, and has committed to hiring 10,000 young people from under-resourced communities by 2025.

AHLA Foundation has held its annual ForWard conference focussed on celebrating, championing, and creating community for women in hospitality.
Nearly 1,000 attendees from across the hotel industry attended the two day conference and this year’s conference theme, Right the Narrative, centred on the power of storytelling and the importance of amplifying the stories and voices of women in the hotel industry.
